This entire year we have focused on various aspects of mindset and the essential need to have our minds set on the traits, characteristics and purposes that will lead us to a life of success and significance. Today I want to continue this theme and talk about our view of the world around us.
Today, I am sharing a conversation on MINDSET with my friend of many years, Joel Osteen. Joel is the lead pastor of Lakewood Church in Houston, and his televised messages are seen weekly by over 7 million viewers in over 100 countries. Joel is known world-wide for his positive outlook on life.
Our podcast and blog guest today is my good friend, Simon T. Bailey. Simon has worked as an executive of many companies including Disney, and he currently does consulting for Fortune 500 companies such as Verizon, Subway, and Gatorade.
Simon is a hospitality guru and is all about positive customer interaction. He believes that positive interactions and relationships help to build a culture of trust and respect with your customers. This culture then helps you to build a thriving business with a loyal customer base.
At the National Speakers Association annual meeting, I had the privilege of having lunch with Dr. Nido Qubein, President of High Point University. Dr. Qubein is a brilliant man, and one of the greats. (Be sure to listen to this week’s podcast for his story of coming to America alone at age 17.) Dr. Qubein has become a highly successful and eminently respected leader, and today, I want to pass along a few principles he shared with me during our thought provoking lunch.
Today is June 27, the 26th Wednesday in 2018. This weekend is the midpoint of the year, the end of June and the beginning of July. As we move into the second half of 2018, I would like to pause for just a bit and consider making a few midyear resolutions. Back in January, we all had grand plans for the year. We made resolutions to lose weight, exercise regularly, eat better, save money, perhaps start a new company, find new work, and make relationship improvements. Those and many other areas of our lives were covered in our optimistic outlook and plans for a new, improved 2018. But that was six months ago. How long did it take us to fall right back into eating pizza on Saturday night, and missing a trip or two (or three) to the gym, and spending our money immediately Instead of saving it?
I spend a lot of time on airplanes, and every time I am on a plane I hear the flight attendants give their speech. Time after time I listen to their instructions, and one day it occurred to me that there’s more to these instructions then maybe I had believed. In fact, there are life lessons that can be found in flight attendant instructions. Today, I want to share with you just three of these life lessons. After you hear these, I’m sure that the next time you’re on a flight and you listen to the instructions from the flight attendant, you will think of more life lessons. When you do, be sure to email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and let me know your ideas.

How do you align yourself to have the qualities and skills that make you a desired member of any organization or of any relationship? My discussion with Dr. Robb Thompson will show you the keys to becoming an MVP in life.
